Washington University After Dark is a non-themed, all-gender a cappella group centered on genre diversity and musical education.
Our Mission: After Dark strives to develop the talents of recreational and pre-professional musicians by welcoming the input of our newcomers and teaching skills such as reading music, creating original a cappella arrangements, and beatboxing.
Since our founding in 2001, After Dark has released four albums to streaming platforms, composed countless arrangements, and performed all over the United States. After Dark has performed everywhere from our home at WashU to Disney World, at concerts, weddings, parties, and even the news! We even put on our very own concert every semester and compete almost every year at ICCA. Whatever music you enjoy and wherever you like to listen to it, we definitely have something for you!
ICCA Recognition: After Dark has performed at ICCA for nearly ten years, beginning in 2012. We have previously received accolades such as Best Choreography in the Midwestern Quarterfinals in 2013, Third place in 2018 and Fourth place in 2020. After Dark has released five studio albums, all available on Spotify. Some notable songs we’ve covered: Through the Fire and Flames, Cosmic Love, and Running With the Wolves.
What really makes After Dark is our members. Some of us have been singing since the day we were born while some of us just started singing. Outside of our group, some of us have experience with choir, opera, jazz bands, rock bands, musical theatre – you name it! We all bring something unique to the group that contributes to so many special arrangements, sets, and performances. But, no matter what our interests are, we all have one very special thing in common: our love of music.
